They were listed as a royal tribute since the Tang Dynasty and are hailed as a "precious fruit," with a cultivation history of 1300 years. Lingwu long jujubes are a fresh-eating variety. The fruit is oblong or cylindrical, slightly flattened, with a deep and wide stem cavity, flat shoulders, and a purplish-red skin. Fully ripe fruits have purple spots on the surface. The skin is thin, the flesh is greenish-white, dense and crisp, juicy, and has a sweet and sour taste. Besides being eaten fresh, it can be processed into dried jujubes, jujube paste, wine-soaked jujubes, jujube juice, jujube wine, pastries, and noodles. In 2014, the Lingwu long jujube planting system in Ningxia was included in the second batch of China's Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage List; in 2016, Lingwu long jujubes became a "National Geographical Indication Product."
