Beihai Transportation


Beihai Fucheng Airport, located 25 kilometers from the city center, was built in April 1985. It underwent expansion in May 1993. Its airfield is now Class 4E, accommodating all types of passenger aircraft up to the B747.It currently serves major domestic and international cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Kunming, Haikou, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Guiyang, and Guilin. Fucheng Airport averages nearly 200 flights per week, serving 19 cities on 16 routes.

Water Transportation

For passenger transport, Beihai International Passenger Port is Beihai's main passenger port, located on Yintan No. 3 Road (accessible by bus No. 3 or the double-decker tourist bus line). Established in 1998, Beihai International Passenger Port has become a comprehensive service provider, integrating maritime and urban passenger transport, accommodation, catering, and shopping. The terminal can berth three ro-ro passenger ferries simultaneously, with an annual handling capacity of 350,000 passengers. By 2012, two regular round-trip routes were established: Beihai-Haikou and Beihai-Weizhou Island. The Beihai-Haikou route is 124 nautical miles long and takes 11 hours. The Beihai port of call is the International Passenger Terminal, and the Haikou port of call is the Haikou Port in Hainan. The Beihai-Weizhou route is 27 nautical miles long and the Beihai port of call is the International Passenger Terminal. The Weizhou port of call is the Weizhou Island Passenger and Cargo Terminal (Bei'an Wharf). In terms of freight, Beihai maintains close trade ties with over 216 ports in 98 countries and regions worldwide. It boasts four berths of 10,000 tons and above and 16 berths of 5,000 tons and below. Beihai Port comprises the Beihai Old Port Area, Shibuling Port Area, Tieshan Port Area, and Dafengjiang Port Area. Beihai Port boasts abundant port resources, allowing for the development of a large number of berths of various types. Construction efforts around 2010 primarily focused on the Shibuling and Tieshan Port Areas.

In 2023, Beihai City's waterborne passenger transport turnover reached 239,409,900 person-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 310.2%; freight turnover reached 2,641,543,000 ton-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 14.8%; and port cargo throughput reached 53,006,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 20.0%.
