Zibo City, abbreviated as "Zibo," the former capital of the State of Qi, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province. It is a Type II large city, designated a regional center city and a modern industrial city in Shandong Province by the State Council, and a major petrochemical base. Located in central Shandong Province, Zibo is bordered by Linyi to the south, Dongying and Binzhou to the north, Weifang to the east, and Jinan to the west. It lies at the intersection of the Yellow River Delta High-Efficiency Ecological Economic Zone and the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone, two national strategic economic zones, and the Jinan Metropolitan Area. It is a core city in the Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration and a third-tier city. As of 2023, the city will comprise five districts, three counties, and three functional zones, covering a total area of 5,965 square kilometers, including a built-up area of 341.9 square kilometers. By the end of 2024, Zibo's permanent population will be 4.6367 million.
