Zibo barbecue is a unique barbecue flavor unique to Zibo City, Shandong Province, and its surrounding areas. Core to its unique "everything wrapped in a small pancake" cooking method, charcoal grilling techniques, and rich cultural heritage, it blends local culinary traditions with modern social culture, becoming a culinary icon with both regional characteristics and widespread influence.
Zibo barbecue is an integral part of Zibo's culinary culture. Zibo barbecue retains the tradition of using independent, small ovens for pure charcoal and smoke. Zibo will also establish a barbecue association, publish a barbecue map, and host barbecue festivals. A Zibo Barbecue Festival is planned for around May Day, showcasing renowned barbecue restaurants and specialty products, supplemented by performances, beer sales, and other activities to provide residents with high-quality barbecue. The "Zibo Barbecue Season" is planned for March to November, integrating all elements of "food, accommodation, travel, shopping, and entertainment" and launching a series of unique "Zibo Barbecue+" themed cultural and tourism products.
"Zibo Barbecue" has become Zibo's new calling card, transforming the city into a vibrant nightlife destination and a city renowned for its unique Shandong cuisine. As of November 2023, there are more than 2,000 barbecue restaurants in Zibo City.
