Guiyang travel tips:
Transportation
Avoid illegal taxis: Taxis and ride-hailing services are safer and more reliable in Guiyang. We recommend choosing licensed vehicles.
Accommodation: We recommend accommodations near the fountain and the Grand Cross, which offer convenient transportation and a variety of nearby restaurants and attractions. Zhonghao International Hotel (with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows) and Hanting Hotel (affordable) are popular choices.
Recommended Attractions:
Qianling Mountain Park
In the morning, watch macaques frolic (feeding prohibited). Take a cable car for panoramic views. The mountain temperature feels 5°C cooler than in the city.
After descending the mountain, try local snacks like Changwang noodles and glutinous rice.
Dongshan Mountain Park
From the summit, you can overlook much of Guiyang, and the view is particularly stunning at sunset.
Jiaxiu Tower
After 7:30 PM, the lights come on, and the bluestone bridge and corridors, reflected in the emerald waters, create a perfect backdrop for ancient photography. Nearby delicacies include Nanmenkou Changwang Noodles and Leijia Tofu Dumplings.
Qingyan Ancient Town
This 600-year-old stone castle is famous for its cuisine; we recommend trying the local specialties.
Notes:
Safety Tips: The m:onkeys in Qianling Mountain Park are wild and untamed; feeding or teasing them is strictly prohibited.
Accommodation Tips: The Huaguoyuan area is relatively untidy and should be avoided.
Shopping Tips: Qingyun Market offers unique souvenirs like refrigerator magnets in local dialects and Nuo culture blessing cards.
