Guiyang Overview


Guiyang City, also known as "Zhu" (筑), Lincheng (林城), and Zhucheng (筑城), is a prefecture-level city, provincial capital, and Type I large city under the jurisdiction of Guizhou Province. Located in central Guizhou Province, it borders Zunyi City to the north and Bijie City to the west, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture to the east and south, and Anshun City to the southwest. It covers a total area of 8,043 square kilometers. As of January 2024, Guiyang governs six districts, three counties, and administers one county-level city. The dialect spoken in Guiyang is the Sichuan-Guizhou dialect. As of the end of 2024, Guiyang's permanent population was 6.6025 million.
