Guizhou Provincial Museum is located opposite the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center. Its collection includes human fossils from the Paleolithic era, representative works of the Yelang Bronze Culture such as the Warring States Wuhu Ge and Ge Fan, copper handled iron swords and sword stem molds, and a large number of precious cultural relics such as lacquer ear cups unearthed from Han tombs in western Guizhou. It is a great place to learn about Guizhou's history and culture.
The cultural relics displayed in the Guizhou Museum are mainly divided into three categories: prehistoric cultural relics specimens, historical relics, and ethnic relics. The basic exhibits include "Guizhou Mineral Resources", "Guizhou Natural Resources", "The Uprising and Struggle of Various Ethnic Groups in Guizhou during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom", "The Revolutionary Activities of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in Guizhou", "Excavated Cultural Relics in Guizhou", etc.
In the museum, not only can you see prehistoric cultural relics specimens such as Guizhou dragon fossils, sea dragon fossils, ichthyosaur fossils, and sea lily fossils, but you can also see ancient precious cultural relics such as copper chariots and horses, standing tiger braided ear bronze pots, Shizhaishan copper drums, Yangpan tomb copper drums, copper handled iron swords, gilded copper spears, one character grid swords, Ming Dynasty golden crowns, and glazed pottery figurines unearthed in the province.
And ethnic cultural relics are the focus of display. In addition to more than 1000 pieces of embroidery, wax printing, embroidery, brocade, silver jewelry, etc., typical collections include Miao marriage record talismans, Miao engraved animal patterns, wine horns, Miao green satin inlaid with silver bells and silver pendants for women's clothing, Yi chieftain eight hanging dragon robes, Yi script "Six Ancestor Chronicles" handwritten copies, and Shui ethnic tomb stone carvings "copper drums", which are of great ornamental value.
