Ganzhou Overview


Ganzhou City, abbreviated as "Qian," also known as "Qiancheng" or "Southern Jiangxi," is a prefecture-level city in Jiangxi Province, a sub-provincial center city, a type II large city, and a third-tier city. Located in southern Jiangxi Province, on the southern edge of the mid-subtropical zone, it has a subtropical hilly and mountainous humid monsoon climate. Its terrain is mainly mountainous, hilly, and basin-like. The Zhangjiang and Gongjiang rivers converge in Ganzhou to form the Ganjiang River. The total area is 39,379.64 square kilometers. As of October 2022, the city administers 3 urban districts, 13 counties, and 2 county-level cities. As of the end of 2024, Ganzhou City had a resident population of 8.9606 million.
