Ganzhou City is located on the southern edge of the mid-subtropical zone, belonging to the subtropical monsoon climate zone. It is characterized by prevailing winter and summer monsoons, concentrated rainfall in spring and summer, distinct seasons, mild climate, abundant heat, plentiful rainfall, short periods of extreme heat and cold, and a long frost-free period. The average total precipitation in Ganzhou City is 1318.9 mm, 18% less than the historical average for the same period, classifying it as a low-rainy year (Shangyou, Dayu, and Xingguo are in normal years, Quannan is an exceptionally low-rainy year, and other counties and cities are low-rainy). Dayu received the most rainfall at 1554.9 mm, while Longnan received the least at 1152.2 mm. The average annual temperature in Ganzhou City is 19.8℃, 0.9℃ higher than the historical average for the same period. The average annual temperature in each county and city ranges from 19.1℃ to 20.8℃. Yudu has the highest average annual temperature at 20.8℃, Shicheng has the lowest at 19.1℃, and Zhanggong District has the lowest at 20.2℃.
Spring: Continuous rainy weather. From March to May, warm and cold air masses frequently converge in southern Jiangxi, resulting in unpredictable weather with alternating periods of cold and heat, and frequent overcast and rainy conditions. When the clash between these air masses intensifies, severe weather events such as thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and heavy rainfall can occur.
Summer: Initially prone to flooding, then drought with less intense heat. In early summer, Ganzhou is situated on the edge of the subtropical high-pressure system, experiencing abundant moisture. When cold air masses arrive, rainfall is heavy and concentrated. The average rainfall in Ganzhou in June is 254.3 mm, with the highest recorded in June 1968 at 534.2 mm, the highest monthly rainfall of the year. This month sees an average of 17 rainstorms, making it the main flood season in Ganzhou most prone to flooding. During the peak summer months of July and August, daytime high temperatures in the central basin generally exceed 36℃, but morning and evening temperatures are generally below 30℃. Although the days are hot, the heat is not extreme.
Autumn: Sunny and pleasant weather. From October to mid-November, for about a week, the region is often under the influence of a high-pressure system moving southward from the north, resulting in a stable atmospheric stratification and clear weather. The average monthly number of rainy days is only 6-8, the average monthly temperature is 14-21℃, and the average monthly relative humidity is 70%-80%, making it the season with the fewest rainy days and the mildest, most pleasant weather of the year.
Winter: Cold but not frigid with little rain or snow. Southern Jiangxi is at a lower latitude, and high mountains to the north block cold air from moving directly southward, resulting in a later onset of winter and less frost damage. It is also frequently controlled by dry, cold air masses from the north, with little cloud and rain formation. During the day, the sun provides sunshine, leading to higher temperatures; at night, radiative cooling can cause temperatures to drop below freezing, resulting in frost and ice. Strong cold waves can produce solid precipitation or ice, but the probability is very low, with an average of only 1-2 days of snowfall per year.
