Fuzhou City, also known as Rongcheng and the ancient capital of Fujian Province, is a prefecture-level city and the provincial capital of Fujian Province. It is a Type I large city. Located in the eastern part of central Fujian Province, it borders the Taiwan Strait to the east. Its topography is a typical estuary basin, dominated by mountains and hills. It enjoys a typical subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by warm and humid weather and evergreen vegetation year-round. It covers a total area of 11,968.53 square kilometers. As of July 2025, Fuzhou governs six districts, six counties, and administers one county-level city. The Municipal People's Government is located at 96 Wushan Road, Gulou District, Fuzhou. As of the end of 2024, Fuzhou's permanent population was 8.501 million. Fuzhou dialect is a dialect of Eastern Fujian.
