Decang Temple

Fuzhou Dizang Temple is located at the foot of Jinji Mountain outside the east gate of Fuzhou City. It is said to have been built in the first year of the Datong reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Liang Dynasty (527 AD) and is one of the earliest Buddhist temples in Fujian Province. The main buildings in the temple include the Ksitigarbha Hall, Dashi Hall, Bodhidharma Patriarch Hall, Maitreya Hall, Weituo Hall, Galan Hall, Nianfo Hall, Wenchang Palace, etc. The layout is reasonable, the halls are quaint, and have a unique style.

The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva presented in the Ksitigarbha Hall is actually the image of Tang Monk. The paintings next to the dome and coffered ceiling depict the story of Tang Monk's master and disciple's journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, while the paintings outside the hall have become like "Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles", "Dingjun Mountain", "Hulao Pass" and so on in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

After entering the hall, you will find the Jade Buddha Tower, with a garden decorated with stone mountains and towering camphor trees blocking the sun between the two halls. The scenery is pleasant and peaceful. There is a "Yonghuai Pavilion" next to the Jade Buddha Tower, which houses the "Bone Pagoda of the first generation of Buddhist monks Mingxu and Deqin for the revival of our temple", and a "Mingxu Deqin Two Masters' Affairs Stele" is erected to commemorate the hidden virtues and immortal achievements of Mingxu and Deqin.                                                                                                                             Travel  tips
