Jingzhou, located at the gateway to the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, is a key node in the north-south transportation corridor and the center of the Two Lakes Plain. It is a national regional-level circulation hub city, an important highway transportation hub, and a major port city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The city has built a "one horizontal and three vertical" railway network, forming a "one port, ten districts" pattern consisting of Jingzhou Port and ten port areas: Songzi, Gong'an, Jingzhou, Shashi, Yanka, Jiangling, Jianli, Honghu, Honghu Wetland, and Shishou. A "five vertical and three horizontal" expressway network covers all counties and cities, forming a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network integrating railways, waterways, highways, and aviation.
Jingzhou Shashi Airport (IATA: SHS, ICAO: ZHJZ), abbreviated as "Jingzhou Airport," is located on Airport Road, Cenhe Town, Shashi District, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, China. It is 20 kilometers west of downtown Jingzhou and 16 kilometers west of the former Shashi Airport. It is a 4C-class domestic feeder airport.
Construction of Jingzhou Shashi Airport began on October 8, 2018; the airport successfully completed its test flight on October 20, 2020; and it officially opened to traffic on January 30, 2021.
As of January 2021, Jingzhou Shashi Airport's terminal building has an area of 13,799 square meters and is equipped with 5 boarding bridges; the apron has 5 Class C aircraft stands, all of which are close to the boarding bridges; the runway is 2,600 meters long and 45 meters wide; and it can meet the needs of an annual passenger throughput of 700,000 and a cargo throughput of 2,450 tons.
In 2024, Jingzhou Shashi Airport handled 1.0407 million passengers, a 25.75% increase compared to 2023, ranking first in the province in terms of growth rate.
Jingzhou Railway Station, located in Jingzhou District, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, China, is situated at kilometer marker K1023+261.75 on the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu Railway (southbound). It is a first-class station under the jurisdiction of Hankou Station of China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd., and is a station on the Nanjing-Chengdu Railway. Technically, Jingzhou Station is an intermediate station, but its operational function is passenger service.
Construction of Jingzhou Station began in 2010. It officially commenced operation on July 1, 2012. In October 2017, an energy-saving entrance hall was added and the hall was expanded.
Jingzhou Station has 4 platforms and 9 tracks, with a total building area of 50,000 square meters, making it the largest railway station among the six stations along the Hanyi Railway.
