Jingzhou Ancient City


Jingzhou Ancient City is well preserved and is one of the first 24 historical and cultural cities announced in China. It is a well preserved and large-scale ancient city in southern China.

The main tourist attraction of Jingzhou Ancient City is the complete ancient city wall. The construction history of Jingzhou Ancient City can be traced back to more than 2800 years ago. The ancient city wall of Jingzhou has a long existence in China (more than 1800 years), spanning multiple dynasties (15), and evolved from a earthen city to a brick wall with earthen walls as a supplement.

The ancient city wall of Jingzhou is irregular oval, 3.75 kilometers long from east to west, 1.2 kilometers wide from north to south, 4.5 square kilometers in area, 11.28 kilometers in circumference, 8.83 meters high on average, 4567 battlements, 26 forts, 5 caves of fighters garrison, and 6 old city gates in the ancient city of Jingzhou; Two city gate towers (East Gate Binyang Tower and North Gate Chaozong Tower).
