Jingdezhen History & Culture

Jingdezhen was established during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, initially called "Changnan" and later renamed "Xinping," under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou. In the first year of the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty (742), it was renamed "Fuliang." In the first year of the Jingde reign of Emperor Zhao Heng of the Northern Song Dynasty, it was officially named "Jingdezhen," under the jurisdiction of Fuliang County. After liberation, it was separated from Fuliang County to become Jingdezhen City. In 1960, Fuliang County was incorporated into Jingdezhen City. Jingdezhen City is known as the Porcelain Capital of the World, the cradle of China's helicopter industry, one of the first national historical and cultural cities, a world capital of handicrafts and folk art, one of China's most attractive cultural tourism cities, and a national model city for ecological civilization.
