Jingdezhen enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by abundant sunshine, plentiful rainfall, mild and humid weather, and distinct four seasons. According to the latest meteorological data from 1981 to 2010, the average annual temperature in Jingdezhen city is 17.8°C, with an average annual rainfall of 1,805 mm. The highest extreme temperature ever recorded was 41.8°C on August 29, 1967, and the lowest extreme temperature was -10.9°C on January 13, 1963. Jingdezhen has a changeable climate in spring, sometimes cold and sometimes warm. At the turn of spring and summer, cold and warm air currents often converge in the town, causing continuous rain. During the plum rain period in early summer, rainfall is concentrated, with heavy and rainstorms frequent. The average annual precipitation in May, June and July is 200 to 350 mm, which can easily lead to floods. After the plum rain season, the town is mostly controlled by the subtropical high pressure, with hot weather and high humidity, which can make people feel stuffy and unbearable. In autumn, the temperature is relatively mild with less rain. In winter, the town is often affected by the cold high pressure from Siberia (or Mongolia), with prevailing northerly winds and cold weather.
