Zhangjiakou City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, is a Type II large city with six districts and 10 counties under its jurisdiction. It is a central city in the border region of Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia. It is a national renewable energy demonstration zone, a world-renowned winter sports and leisure resort, and a water conservation and ecological support zone for the capital. Located in northwestern Hebei Province, it borders Chengde City, Hebei Province to the east, Beijing City to the southeast, Baoding City, Hebei Province to the south, Shanxi Province to the west and southwest, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the north and northwest. Its terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, and it has a temperate continental monsoon climate. As of the end of 2024, the city's total area is 36,357 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 4.0326 million.
