Dajingmen City Tower

The Dajingmen City Tower is located on the north side of Zhangjiakou City and was built during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. It is a city gate on the Great Wall and also the northern gateway of Zhangjiakou City. Nowadays, the Dajingmen City Tower, as a precious historical site, has become one of the symbols of Zhangjiakou City. Tourists who come to Zhangjiakou for tourism will come here to see it. On both sides of the tower of Dajingmen are continuous mountains, and the city gate stands in the mountains. The four characters "Great River and Mountains" are written on the city gate, which was moved by the magnificent mountain scenery next to the tower when the later Chahar commander Gao Weiyue came in 1927. On both sides of the city gate are the Great Wall that climbs up the mountain. Inside the city gate, there are several ancient buildings and shops for visitors to explore and enjoy. There is no charge for viewing and taking photos outside the city, but a ticket is required to climb up to the city tower. Climbing along the Great Wall from the city tower, you can climb towards the nearby small hill for a while, where you can enjoy the open scenery in the distance.
