Shuzhuang Garden

The scenery of Shuzhuang Garden is scattered and orderly, with an architectural style that combines Fujian style and Western colors. It is built by the sea, unique and stunning. It is mainly divided into two parts: Canghai Garden and Bushan Garden. The main attractions include Piano Museum, Twelve Caves, and Forty Four Bridges. Forty four Bridge is a great sea observation point where you can enjoy the sea view.

The garden was built in 1913 and is located in the southern part of Gulangyu Island. It was originally the private villa of the famous gentleman Lin Erjia. In 1956, the owner's family presented this garden to the country.

The main landscape of Bushan Garden is rockery, which is the scenic spot of Twelve Caves. It has 12 caves, arranged by Earthly Branches. The park owner adopts the "Dongtian" from the "Dongtian Fudi", called the "Twelve Dongtian", and later embeds the twelve zodiac animals at each entrance. Interested tourists can find stone statues of each zodiac animal here.

The main purpose of Zanghai Garden is to visit the scenic spot of 44th Bridge and observe the sea. The reason why it is called Zanghai instead of Guanhai is because you cannot see the sea when you reach the entrance of the garden or even enter the main gate. There is a high wall blocking the view, and a "Zanghai" plaque is hung on the inner lintel of the garden gate. But when you turn out of the Moon Cave Gate, the sea suddenly appears in front of you, and you can walk to the 44th Bridge, which is a great place to watch the sea and named after its owner who was 44 years old when the bridge was built. There is a gate under this bridge that guides seawater into the park, forming three parts: the sea, the outer pool, and the inner pool, hiding the large sea inside.

The Piano Museum is located in Tingtao Pavilion in Shuzhuang Garden. Every half hour, there are dedicated piano performances for improvisation. Around 11:00, there is an automatic piano playing in Hall 1, and at 11:20, there are staff members playing the piano on site in Hall 2. It's worth listening to!
