Shijiazhuang, abbreviated as "Shi," is a prefecture-level city, the provincial capital, and a Type I large city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, China. It is a key central city in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, approved by the State Council, and a national comprehensive transportation hub. Located in the south-central part of Hebei Province in North China, Shijiazhuang covers an area of 15,848 square kilometers. As of the end of 2024, Shijiazhuang's permanent population was 11.2466 million. The local dialect is Ji-Lu Mandarin.
As of September 2023, Shijiazhuang governs eight districts, 11 counties, and administers three county-level cities: Chang'an District, Qiaoxi District, Xinhua District, Yuhua District, Jingxing Mining District, Gaocheng District, Luquan District, Luancheng District, Jingxing County, Zhengding County, Xingtang County, Lingshou County, Gaoyi County, Shenze County, Zanhuang County, Wuji County, Pingshan County, Yuanshi County, and Zhao County; as well as Jinzhou City, Xinle City, and Xinji City. It also has one national high-tech industrial development zone, one national economic and technological development zone, one pilot free trade zone, and one national comprehensive bonded zone. The municipal government is located at 216 Zhongshan East Road, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.
