Jinzhong Climate

Jinzhong City is located on the mid-latitude inland Loess Plateau and has a warm temperate continental semi-arid monsoon climate. Its basic climate is characterized by distinct seasons: dry and windy spring, hot and rainy summer, clear and crisp autumn, cold and snowy winter, short spring and autumn, and longer winter and summer. Due to the influence of topography, the vertical distribution of climate zones and their east-west differences are quite pronounced. Generally speaking, heat increases from east to west, with higher temperatures in the western plains than in the eastern mountainous areas. Precipitation, on the other hand, decreases from east to west, with more in the eastern mountainous areas than in the western plains. Precipitation is primarily concentrated in the summer, creating a climate characterized by simultaneous rain and heat. The city can be divided into six climate zones based on six climate types, six crop maturity periods, and production characteristics.
