Baotu Spring Park is located in the bustling area of Jinan city center, with Qianfo Mountain to the south, Daming Lake scenic area to the north, and Quancheng Square to the east. It is a characteristic garden with spring water as its theme. Baotu Spring, known as the "number one spring in the world", is located at the top of Jinan's "72 famous springs" and has a history of more than 2000 years. It has also appeared multiple times in literary works, with the representative being "Baotu Spring" by Lao She. And tourists come here to witness the magnificent scene of the three springs of Baotu Spring erupting.
Baotu Spring is the main attraction in the park, with three streams of clear and pure water that gushes day and night, reaching several feet in height during peak hours. There are large stone blocks around the spring, surrounded by railings, which allow you to overlook the spectacular scene of the three springs gushing in the pool from the edge of the railing. There is a stone tablet standing next to the spring, inscribed with the words "First Spring". Its color is dark green and it was inscribed by Prince Zhonglin of Licheng during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty. In addition, there are more than 30 famous springs scattered near Baotu Spring, including Jinxian Spring, Shuyu Spring, Xibo Spring, Liuxu Spring, Huanghua Spring, Dukang Spring, and Bailongquan, forming the Baotu Spring group. Due to the heavy rainfall in July and August, it is a good season to come and enjoy the spring water.
During the summer season, tourists can have intimate contact with spring water in the park. Some springs do not have railings around them, and there are stone paths in the pool where the spring water flows. Visitors can go down to the pool and enjoy the water. Walking on the stone paths, their feet will be wet by the spring water, creating a cool feeling. In addition to being hydrophilic, there is also free spring water available for tourists to drink directly by the Baotu Spring pool. On the east side of the spring, there is the Hope Heting Tea Society, which provides visitors with fragrant tea brewed with Baotu spring water at a moderate price.
In addition to the spring water, there is also a scenic spot worth watching in the park, which is the south gate of the park. It is decorated in a magnificent and elegant manner, and the horizontal plaque on the gate reads "Baotu Spring" with a blue background and gold letters. It was written by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty and is known as the "first gate" of Chinese gardens
In the past few years, Baotu Spring often experienced seasonal water stoppage, but after years of protection, its normal water level has been basically restored. In addition, Baotu Spring Park often holds various cultural activities. On the first day of the first lunar month every year, a lantern festival will be held in the park, lasting for 20 days. In late September every year, there is also the Baotu Spring Water Culture Festival, which lasts for about 10 days. At that time, there will be various folk activities, calligraphy and painting exhibitions, opera performances and other performances in the park for tourists to enjoy. Every year from the end of October to the end of November, there is also a chrysanthemum exhibition held in the park. In the golden autumn season, the springs flow together and chrysanthemums and springs complement each other, making it very worth a visit.
In addition, the Baotu Spring Scenic Area has also launched a boat tour route. After visiting the Baotu Spring Scenic Area, tourists can board the boat at the Baotu Spring Boat Show if they are interested. The boat passes through the Ximen Bridge in the old city area of Jinan, passes through the east gate of Wulongtan Park, and enters the first passenger ship lock in Jinan's history - Wulongtan Ship Lock, where they can experience a drop of more than 2 meters. Sitting on the east side of the ship, you can still see the relief of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Jinan". There are many aquatic plants along the shore, and the river water is clear to the bottom.
