Changzhou Overview


Changzhou City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, is located in southern Jiangsu Province, in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta. It borders Wuxi City to the east, Nanjing City and Zhenjiang City to the west, and Wuxi City and Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, to the south. Located in the lower Yangtze River plain, it features a mix of high sand plains, hills, and lakes. The terrain is slightly higher in the southwest and lower in the northeast. It enjoys a subtropical humid monsoon climate with distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. Its total land area is 437,200 hectares. As of March 2024, Changzhou governs five districts and administers one county-level city. The Municipal People's Government is located at 1280 Longcheng Avenue, Xinbei District. As of the end of 2024, Changzhou's permanent population was 5.386 million.
