Wuxi Overview


Wuxi, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province and a Type I large city. Located in East China and southern Jiangsu Province, it borders the Yangtze River to the north, Taihu Lake to the south, Suzhou to the east, Changzhou to the west, Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, and Xuancheng in Anhui Province to the south and southwest. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal traverses the city, covering a total area of 4,627.46 square kilometers. The territory is primarily plain, with scattered low mountains and residual hills. It has a northern subtropical humid monsoon climate. As of the end of 2023, the city will administer five districts and two county-level cities. By the end of 2024, the city's permanent population will be 7.505 million.
