Taian Overview

Tai'an City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, is a type II large city located in central Shandong. It is bordered by Mount Tai and Jinan City to the north, Jining City to the south, Liaocheng City and Puyang City of Henan Province across the Yellow River to the west, and Jinan, Zibo, and Linyi City to the east. It covers a total area of 7,762 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Tai'an City administers 2 urban districts, 2 county-level cities, and 2 counties. As of the end of 2024, Tai'an City had a resident population of 5,291,500, with an urbanization rate of 66.7%.
