Qingdao is a major economic center and port city on China's eastern coast. It serves as a vital international trade port and maritime transport hub along the Yellow River Basin and along the western Pacific Rim. It maintains trade ties with over 450 ports in more than 130 countries and regions, and its port throughput ranks among the top ten globally. Qingdao Port Passenger Terminal is one of the primary waterway access points for passengers entering Qingdao, offering services to numerous domestic port cities. It operates three international scheduled routes: from Qingdao to Incheon and Gunsan in South Korea, and to Shimonoseki in Japan.

Qingdao's civil airports include Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. In 2014, the Qingdao New Airport received project approval from the State Council and the Central Military Commission, and construction began in 2015. It opened on August 12, 2021.
By the end of 2023, Qingdao had a total of 243 passenger routes, including 223 domestic routes and 20 international and regional routes; and 18 cargo routes, including 7 domestic routes and 11 international and regional routes. Annual air passenger throughput reached 21.42 million, a year-on-year increase of 120.4%. Air cargo and mail throughput reached 260,000 tons, an increase of 18.5%.
Qingdao West Railway Station, located in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, is a passenger station under the jurisdiction of the China Railway Jinan Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and a key station on the Qingdao-Yancheng Railway. Construction began in November 2016, a safety assessment was completed on December 21, 2018, and the station officially opened on December 26 of the same year.With a total construction area of 122,063 square meters, Qingdao West Station is the largest hub station on the Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway.As of December 2018, Qingdao West Station had four platforms and 11 tracks, with a total construction area of 60,000 square meters.
