St. Michael's Cathedral

The Zhejiang Road Catholic Church was built in 1934 and has a magnificent spire. It is a famous Western style building in Qingdao. The surface of the church is carved with simple and beautiful patterns, combined with light colored walls and a red roof with a hint of pink. The rich and sweet colors have attracted countless couples taking wedding photos.

Entering the church, the first impression is that it is spacious and bright. The hall is over ten meters high, with a hallway in the middle and rows of seats on both sides. There are also corridors on both sides, each with two confessional pavilions for priests to receive and confess believers. At the end of the aisle and corridor is the altar, and the dome above the altar is painted with exquisite murals. The eye-catching feature in the church is the stained glass windows that emit soft light.

Every Sunday, the church holds Sunday Mass, but during Mass time, visitors are not allowed to wander around the church. They can only sit quietly in the back seat and cannot make loud noises. There is a valuable organ imported from Germany in the church, which looks a bit like a piano and only plays during Sunday Mass.

There are many scenic spots around the Catholic Church on Zhejiang Road. Walking north along Zhongshan Road, you will come to the famous chopping wood yard for its delicious food; Going south along Zhongshan Road, you can walk all the way to the wharf by the seaside, and then play along the seaside; From the church to the east, signal mountain park, etc., you can arrange the tour route according to your preferences.                                                                                                                       Travel  Tips
