Nanchang City has formed a modern, integrated transportation network encompassing waterways, land routes, and air transport. It boasts six major ports, Changbei International Airport, Nanchang Railway Station, Nanchang West Railway Station, and the Nanchang Long-Distance Bus Station, Qingshan Bus Station, and Xufang Bus Station. The city also has a subway system, making it one of the most comprehensive transportation systems in China.
In 2022, Nanchang implemented the "1688" project to build a strong transportation city, accelerating the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system. Projects such as the West Second Ring Expressway, Hongteng Elevated Road, Hongzhou Bridge, Fuxing Bridge, and Longxing Bridge progressed rapidly. Construction also began on the northern and eastern extensions of Metro Line 1 and the eastern extension of Metro Line 2. Taoxin Avenue was successfully opened to traffic.
Nanchang Railway Station, built in 1935, is one of China's important comprehensive railway hubs and a major hub in East China. Seamlessly connected to the Nanchang Metro, it primarily serves passengers on high-speed and conventional trains, forming a comprehensive, fast, and convenient passenger transport network connecting the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the rest of the country.
Nanchang West Railway Station is an intermediate station on the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway and the starting and ending point of the Changjiu Intercity Railway and the Xiangpu Railway. Construction officially began in November 2010; it officially opened on September 26, 2013.
Nanchang East Railway Station, located in Luojia Town, Qingshanhu District, is a core transportation hub in eastern Nanchang. It is the only large-scale provincial capital-level high-speed railway station on the newly constructed Changjinghuang High-Speed Railway, with a total construction area of 223,500 square meters. Construction began on March 1, 2021, and it entered the trial operation phase in October 2023.
