Longmen Grottoes is located in Longmen District of Luoyang City, Henan Province. Together with Yungang Grottoes in Datong City, Shanxi Province, Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing, and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, Longmen Grottoes is one of the four famous grottoes in China, and it was listed as a world cultural heritage in 2020.

Taking Yihe River as the boundary, Longmen Grottoes can be divided into two parts: West Mountain and East Mountain. Most of the East Mountain Grottoes are works of the Tang Dynasty, while the West Mountain Grottoes, excavated in the Northern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang Dynasties, are part of the essence of Longmen, including the Lushena Buddha statue in Fengxian Temple and the "20 Longmen Classics" in Guyang Cave.

As a world cultural heritage site, Longmen Grottoes has a long history and profound cultural heritage. After Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved the capital to Luoyang, the ancient Yang Cave began to be excavated on the west bank of Longmen Mountain. After more than 400 years of continuous construction in seven dynasties, it finally formed the epic and magnificent cliff carvings we see today - Longmen Grottoes.
The Longmen Grottoes currently has 2345 niches, over 2800 stone inscriptions, more than 70 Buddhist pagodas, and over 100000 statues. Entering Longmen, you will be immersed in a millennium old art treasure trove, with magnificent carving art that will shock your soul and give you a visual feast.
The entire scenic area of Longmen Grottoes has planned a fixed tour route, starting from Xishan Grottoes, Dongshan Grottoes, Xiangshan Temple, and Baiyuan. Following one direction, it takes about half a day to complete the tour. You don't have to go back and forth on the wrong path, nor will you get lost.
