Laojun Mountain Scenic Area


Laojun Mountain, a famous Taoist mountain, is located in Qiliping Village, Luanchuan County, Luoyang City, Henan Province. Laojun Mountain, formerly known as Jingshi Mountain, is the main peak of Funiu Mountain, a branch of the Qinling Mountains, with an altitude of 2200 meters.

According to legend, Laojun Mountain Scenic Area is the place where the founder of Taoism, Li Er (Laozi), retired and practiced. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, a temple was built in the mountain to commemorate him, and later it was honored as a "famous mountain in the world". It has always been a place of strong incense.

The trees in the mountains are lush, the scenery is picturesque, and mountain springs can be seen everywhere. In the golden autumn, this is the best choice for surrounding areas to enjoy the red leaves. After the rain, Laojun Mountain is surrounded by clouds and mist, like a fairyland in the sky.

The scenic area is vast, mainly divided into the central Laojun Mountain main scenic area, the Dream Chasing Valley scenic area in the west, and the Zhaigou scenic area in the east. If you go to the mountaintop, there is still a chance to enjoy the beautiful sea of clouds, sunrise, and sunset.

The main scenic area of Laojun Mountain includes major attractions such as Zhongtianmen, Jinding, Laojun Temple, Nantianmen, Yuhuangding, and Mazongling. Since its establishment in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Laojun Temple has been the center of worship for pilgrims from the Central Plains; The Taoist temple at the Jade Emperor's Peak enshrines the Jade Emperor, which is also a great place for mountain viewing; Jinding and Mazongling are great places to watch the sunrise and the sea of clouds.
