Linfen Overview

Linfen City, also known as Pingyang, Woniu City, and Huaguo City, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. It is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province. It is adjacent to Taiyue Mountain in the east and is adjacent to Changzhi and Jincheng. It is adjacent to the Yellow River in the west and is across the river from Yan'an and Weinan in Shaanxi. It starts from Hanxinling in the north and is adjacent to Jinzhong and Luliang. It borders Yuncheng in the south. It is named after its location on the banks of the Fen River. It is located in the semi-arid and semi-humid monsoon climate zone and has a temperate continental monsoon climate. As of June 2021, the city has jurisdiction over 1 urban district, 14 counties, and administers 2 county-level cities. It covers an area of 20,302 square kilometers. At the end of 2023, the city's permanent population is 3.8872 million.
