Liaocheng Overview

Liaocheng, formerly known as Dongchang, is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located in western Shandong, at the junction of Hebei, Shandong, and Henan provinces. It borders the Zhangwei River to the west, Henan Province and Jining, Tai'an, and Jinan cities of Shandong Province to the south and southeast, and Dezhou City to the north and northeast. It covers a total area of 8,628 square kilometers. As of 2024, Liaocheng administered 1 city, 2 districts, and 5 counties. As of the end of 2024, Liaocheng had a resident population of 5.8034 million, with an urbanization rate of 57.05%.
