Qiangyang Ancient Town

Furong Tower is located in Qiancheng Town, where Yuan and Wushui rivers converge. It is a classical garden building with intricate and staggered architecture, known as the "first scenic spot in the upper reaches of southern Chu".

It is said that in the seventh year of the Tianbao reign of the Tang Dynasty (748 AD), Wang Changling was demoted to the rank of Captain of Longbiao (now Qianyang County) and built the Furong Tower as a place for drinking, composing poetry, and entertaining guests. Due to years of disrepair, the old site is deserted. In the 20th year of the reign of Emperor Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty (1815), in memory of this famous poet, a garden was built on the Xianglu Rock in the west of the city, and the Furong Tower was built according to its name. The current building was renovated in the 19th year of the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang reign (1839).

Furong Tower is known as the first scenic spot in the upper reaches of southern Chu. The main building has a back porch facing the river, a pure wooden structure, three rooms on the front, a double eaved gable roof, and a Mingxuan on the second floor for a distant view. Surrounded by ancient relics such as the Ice Heart Jade Pot Pavilion, the Sunk Green Tower, and the Half Moon Pavilion, they are ingeniously arranged with natural mountains, rocks, rivers, and trees, forming a magnificent scene of "mountains arching green when viewed from above, thousands of trees crossing in the shade when viewed from above, and the Yuan River flowing from the north surrounding it".

On the side of Furong Tower, there are more than 80 engraved and stone tablets of poems and essays from various dynasties, including fifteen poems by Wang Changling and Chu officials, as well as handwritten works by Yan Zhenqing, Yue Fei, Mi Fu and others. Surrounded by alternating bamboo and wood, the area is covered in lush greenery and fragrant grass, creating a serene and tranquil environment.
