Baoding, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, China, is located in west-central Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains, and in the western Jizhong Plain. Its geographical coordinates lie between 38°14'29"-39°57'3"N and 113°45'32"-116°19'41"E. It borders Xiong'an New Area to the east, Cangzhou City to the southeast, Hengshui City to the south, Shijiazhuang City to the southwest, Shanxi Province to the west, and borders Shanxi Province and Zhangjiakou City to the northwest. It borders Beijing City to the north and Langfang City to the northeast. The terrain slopes from northwest to southeast, with mountainous areas and plains forming the main features. Baoding covers a total area of 22,000 square kilometers (excluding Xiong'an New Area and Dingzhou, which total 19,300 square kilometers). As of the end of 2024, Baoding governs five districts, 15 counties (three of which are administered by Xiong'an New Area), and administers four county-level cities (Dingzhou City is a pilot city directly under provincial administration). Its permanent population is 9.0462 million.
