Xingtai City, abbreviated as "Xing," formerly known as Xingzhou and Shunde Prefecture, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province. It is a key node city in the Shijiazhuang Metropolitan Area, a Type II large city, a major national base for advanced equipment manufacturing, new energy, and healthy food industries, and a renowned historical and cultural city. It is a key modern node city in the Central Plains connecting the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and an ecologically livable Taihang Spring City. As of the end of 2024, the city will administer four districts, 12 counties, and administer two county-level cities, with a total area of 12,400 square kilometers and a permanent population of 6.8778 million.
Xingtai City is located in the southern part of Hebei Province, on the eastern foot of the southern section of Taihang Mountains and the western edge of the North China Plain. It faces Shandong Province to the east with the Weiyun River as the boundary, is adjacent to Shanxi Province to the west with Taihang Mountains, is connected to Handan City to the south, and borders Shijiazhuang City and Hengshui City to the north and northeast respectively. It is 106 kilometers north of the provincial capital Shijiazhuang City and 396 kilometers from the capital Beijing.
