Wenzhou Longwan International Airport is located at the mouth of the Oujiang River in southeast Wenzhou, at an altitude of 4.4 meters (originally 2.8-3.4 meters). It is only 21 kilometers from the city center, and access to the airport takes only 20 minutes via Ouhai Boulevard. Wenzhou Airport serves approximately 20 million people, with an economic hinterland of 160,000 square kilometers (including the Wenzhou, Taizhou, Lishui, and Ningde regions). Passengers from Taizhou, Ningde, and Lishui can reach Wenzhou Airport in just 1.5 hours. Wenzhou Longwan International Airport connects to many cities across China and has regular flights to Hong Kong. Wenzhou is currently completing the expansion of Longwan International Airport to expand its international reach. On July 24, 2012, Wenzhou's airport officially became a Class I national open air port. On June 1, 2018, the newly built Terminal 2 of Wenzhou Longwan International Airport officially opened. All domestic inbound and outbound flights will be transferred to Terminal 2, while international (regional) flights will continue to use the International Hall of Terminal 1.
Highway
In 2024, Wenzhou's air passenger throughput is expected to reach 12.533 million, a 7.2% increase; and cargo and mail throughput is expected to reach 129,000 tons, a 21.9% increase.
Wenzhou is one of China's 45 major highway hub cities and one of its 25 major hub ports. Expressways include the Jinliwen Expressway (G1513) connecting to Lishui and Jinhua, the Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Expressway section (G15) heading to Taizhou, the Zhuyong Expressway (S26), completed in February 2010, and the Wenzhou Ring Expressway (S10) (north route), making travel even more convenient.
Ouhai Avenue is the main east-west expressway through the city, serving as a gateway connecting the three major urban centers of Lucheng, Longwan, and Ouhai, as well as the airport and railway. It is also one of Wenzhou's most important welcoming avenues. It also crosses the San'an Wetland, showcasing the unique landscape of Wenzhou. Other expressways under construction or about to begin construction include the Longliwen Expressway, the southwest route of the Wenzhou Ring Expressway, and the Yongtaiwen Expressway (coastal route). On May 27, 2022, the Oujiang River North Mouth Bridge section opened to traffic, completing the entire Ningbo-Guangzhou Expressway.
In 2024, Wenzhou's road passenger volume reached 49.88 million, a 6.7% increase over the previous year; road freight volume reached 169.33 million tons, a 7.9% increase.
