Jiaoshan Great Wall

Jiaoshan is located about 3 kilometers north of Shanhaiguan City, and is the peak of the northern mountain barrier of Guancheng, with an altitude of 519 meters. Its peak is flat and can seat hundreds of people. It has huge rocks and towering peaks, resembling a dragon head wearing horns, hence its name. Its main attractions include Jiaoshan Great Wall, Hanmen Pass, Qixian Temple, etc. The Great Wall of Jiaoshan includes the main peak of Jiaoshan, Da Pingding. Climbing up to the Great Wall of Jiaoshan, one can have a panoramic view of the distant mountains and the sea, and the beautiful scenery inside and outside the Great Wall can be seen at a glance. Hanmen Pass is a pass in the southern part of Jiaoshan, consisting of two parts: the city tower and the city platform. Its geographical location is very dangerous and it is one of the top ten passes in Shanhaiguan. Qixian Temple is a brick and wood structure building located on the inner side of the Great Wall in Jiaoshan. There is a great wonder in the temple called Shansi Yuqing, which is a unique summer scenery in Jiaoshan. The drizzle below the mountain is continuous, but the sky inside the temple is clear and bright, with the red sun hanging high; Sometimes, it rains heavily in the temple, but at the foot of the mountain, the sun rises three poles high. The two places are close but the scenery is different, which is breathtaking. Jiaoshan Scenic Area integrates mountains, cities, and temples. The gate is designed in the form of a castle building modeled after the Ming Dynasty. Its shape resembles a "mountain character". The "Bihai Peak" plaque on the back of the forehead is the work of contemporary poet He Jingzhi. There is a poem that goes: "Since ancient times, all roads and cities have been dangerous. The natural pass is at Jiaoshan, and the Great Wall hangs upside down from the peak, overlooking Guancheng in front of us." This is enough to prove the danger of Jiaoshan. In the deep and tranquil area of Jiaoshan, there is a quaint and elegant ancient temple called Qixian Temple. During the Ming Dynasty, calligrapher Xiao Xian, left attendant of the Ministry of War Lang Zhanrong, and censor Zheng Ji all resided here, making it known as the "cradle of Shanhaiguan culture" and the construction of the Kuixing Pavilion. People who enjoy classical literature can come here to feel the scene of Xiao Xian and others studying hard in the cold window back then. During the summer, autumn, and rainy seasons, when browsing Qixian Temple, you may encounter the strange scenery of "the mountain temple is towering and clear, with rainy skies below and clear skies above. Looking down at the dragon fighting in front of the steps, the sun and moon are hanging high outside the threshold".
