Beidaihe

Beidaihe is located on the eastern coast of Beidaihe District, Qinhuangdao City, northeast to Pigeon Nest Park. The scenery along the way is coastal, with gentle waves crashing against the soft sand beach, fresh air, lush trees, and small villas of 2 to 3 floors on both sides of the street. Tourists flock to its sea view; Due to its famous sea view, the name of the scenic area at the mouth of the Dai River in the southwest has been forgotten by people. There are more than 30 beach resorts along the coast of Beidaihe, with the most famous being Laohushi Marine Park. Here, you can play in the sand, sunbathe, swim in the sea, and also engage in water activities such as paragliding and motorboats. Of course, these water activities, including cooling off and changing clothes at Laohushi Marine Park, all require money. Pigeon Nest Park is almost a must visit attraction for every tourist visiting Beidaihe. One of the reasons why you must visit is to watch the "Bathing Sun" (sunrise over the sea) at the Eagle Horn Pavilion. Although Beidaihe has a popular spot for sun watching, the sunrise is not something that can be seen just by looking at it. The visibility on the sea surface is not high in the early morning, and sometimes there is fog. The probability of seeing the sunrise after September is relatively high. Bird watching in shallow waters is essential. There are over 1200 species of birds in China, with 416 species found in Beidaihe. Every spring (mid March to late May) and autumn (early September to mid November), tens of thousands of migratory birds migrate and stay here, making it a great time for bird watching. Pigeon Nest Park is not a beach, so you cannot swim in the sea, but you can step on the seawater barefoot and there is a free place to rinse your feet. There are many scenic spots in Beidaihe, and you can also go to Guailou Qiyuan to see the castles with strange shapes and slightly cute appearances; Go to Lianfeng Mountain Park to climb the mountain, which is not high and only 153 meters high. From a high place, you can see a group of villas for recuperation; At the foot of Lianfeng Mountain, there is a free Jieshi Garden. The word "Jieshi" embodies the ancient history of Qinhuangdao. Behind the huge stones in the garden is engraved the poem "Facing Jieshi to the east, to observe the vast sea". Coastal cycling is also a good choice. Bicycles can be rented at tourist attractions and hotels, and can be negotiated for a long time. If interested, you can ride all the way to Nandaihe, which is also a beach and much quieter than Beidaihe. Sometimes there are traffic restrictions in Beidaihe, and some sections of the road do not allow bicycles to pass through, requiring detours. Of course, when you come to the seaside, you should eat seafood. The Shitang Road Pedestrian Street on the southwest side of Guailou Qiyuan has a complete variety of seafood; The Red Stone Road Night Market on the east side (including the nearby Black Stone Road and Black Stone Branch Road) not only has seafood stalls, but also sells seaside specialty crafts such as shells and pearls. Walking south along Red Stone Road, you can walk all the way to the beach. After finishing seafood at night, it's not wrong to go to the beach and see the rising moon. Of course, night markets are just a common term and operate during the day, but there are more stalls set up at night. You can also go to the Shitang Road Market on Shitang Road Pedestrian Street to buy fresh seafood. There is a Chunhua Road Farmers' Market near Beijing Institute of Technology Qinhuangdao Campus on Yuhua Road where you can also buy seafood. There are not as many varieties as Shitang Road, but it is a reliable place for locals to buy groceries. The seafood bought can be brought back to the hotel for the owner to make, or it can be made for the restaurant, but it is important to note that the restaurant owner uses a "transfer plan". Beidaihe's specialty seafood includes scallops, swimming crabs, and skin shrimp (also known as sea urine shrimp, skin shrimp enthusiasts can go to seafood stores near the mouth of the river early in the morning to wholesale freshly caught skin shrimp). In addition to seafood, other delicious foods in Beidaihe include barbecue, lamb soup, and Yang intestines (a special product of Beidaihe, recommended as a particularly delicious ham sausage). In addition to eating seafood stalls and visiting night markets, Beidaihe's nightlife can also sit in Biluota Bar Park. Every night, there are Thai sirens performing. In July every year, there is also a performance themed "The Moon Lives on the Sea". There are quite a few accommodation options in Beidaihe, ranging from family hotels costing tens of yuan to hotels costing hundreds of yuan. Prices double during peak tourist seasons, and advance booking is required. With a large number of accommodations, more tourists come to Beidaihe! Be careful if the accommodation is far away from the beach when you encounter someone pulling guests to the accommodation.
