Tangqi Ancient Town


Tangqi Ancient Town, located in Yuhang County, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is the starting point of the Hangzhou section of the Grand Canal. The canal runs through the ancient town, with quaint old houses on both sides and ancient bridges connecting the river.

The main attractions here include Guangji Bridge, Qianlong Imperial Stele, Guo Pujing, Canal Granary Museum, etc. 

Shuibei Street and Shuinan Street on both sides of the canal are the main tourist areas of the ancient town. There are many scenic spots on Shuibei Street, including Xiyao Mansion, Tangqi Shuibei Grain Station, Christ Church, and the famous Qianlong Imperial Stele along the river. 

Shuinan Street and its surrounding neighborhoods are home to many shops selling pastries and snacks. Local pastries are famous for Fagen pastry shop, Zhu Yitang's Bean paste cake, Lixia cake, etc. 

During the ripe season of loquat, fruit farmers selling loquat can be seen everywhere in the vegetable fields by the bridge and on the roadside.
