The Songhe Studio is located on the east side of the main hall of the Summer Resort. Built in the 14th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1749). The Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty (Qianlong's mother) and her concubines resided here. Back in the day, 'Outside the green pine trees, white cranes dance in front of the courtyard', Emperor Qianlong named it the third scenery of the 'Qianlong Thirty Six Scenes' with the meaning of prolonging the life of pine and cranes. This group of buildings includes the Gate Hall, Songhezhai (later renamed Hanhui Hall), Suicheng Hall (later renamed Jide Hall), Seventeen Rooms, Leshou Hall (later renamed Yuexingju), Changyuan Tower, etc. The Suicheng Hall was the place where Emperor Jiaqing studied and lived as a prince. After the twelfth year of the Daoguang reign (1832), the shrines of emperors of the Qing Dynasty were enshrined here. The Bu Shou Tang was the sleeping palace where Empress Dowager Shengxian resided, and Emperor Jiaqing also frequently resided here in his later years. Changyuan Tower has the same shape as the "Yunshan Scenic Area" and is a high viewpoint for enjoying the scenery of the lake area. There is a hanging flower gate behind the building, and when you go out, you will find the Wanhe Songfeng Hall.
