Yan’an Overview

Yan'an City, abbreviated as "Yan", is a prefecture level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province. It is located in the northern part of Shaanxi Province, adjacent to Yulin to the north, Xianyang, Tongchuan, and Weinan cities in Guanzhong to the south, facing Linfen and Lvliang cities in Shanxi Province across the Yellow River to the east, and Qingyang city in Gansu Province to the west. The total area of the city is 37000 square kilometers. As of March 2024, Yan'an City has jurisdiction over 1 city, 2 districts, and 10 counties. As of the end of 2024, the permanent population of Yan'an City was 2.2479 million, with an urbanization rate of 63.54%.
