Xishuangbanna boasts a superior geographical location, bordering Laos and Myanmar, and adjacent to Thailand. The prefecture has a total border line of 966.29 kilometers and seven national ports, including Xishuangbanna Airport, railway port, Jinghong Port, Guanlei Port, Mohan, Daluo, and Mengman, forming a comprehensive transportation network of water, land, air, and rail that connects the prefecture to other countries. The Lancang-Mekong River, connecting six countries (China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam), exits China at Xishuangbanna. After leaving China, it is called the Mekong River and is a golden waterway hailed as the "Danube of the East," navigable year-round by 300-ton passenger and cargo ships. The Kunming-Bangkok International Highway, also exiting China from Xishuangbanna, is a major land transportation artery connecting China with Southeast Asian countries. Xishuangbanna International Airport currently operates 75 domestic routes to 57 destinations. The Xishuangbanna section of the China-Laos Railway is 214.28 kilometers long, with two passenger stations (Xishuangbanna Station and Ganlanba Station) and three dual-use passenger and freight stations (Yexianggu Station, Mengla Station, and Mohan Port Station), forming a convenient international logistics channel between China and ASEAN, and continuously enhancing cross-border transportation vitality.

Xishuangbanna Station is located in Mannuanlong Village, Gasa Town, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a side-platform station with a total building area of 9,935 square meters and a maximum capacity of 3,000 people. The central waiting hall is one story high, with two stories on either side. There are three passenger platforms and five arrival/departure tracks. Currently, one entrance and one exit are in use.
Xishuangbanna Gasa International Airport began construction on December 1, 1987, and officially opened to traffic on April 7, 1990. It was approved by the State Council as a Class A national port airport on January 1, 1997. On November 9, 2023, Xishuangbanna Gasa International Airport welcomed its 6 millionth passenger. This marked the first time the airport's annual passenger throughput had exceeded 6 million since its opening on April 7, 1990. Air cargo and mail throughput also reached 14,200 tons, an increase of 80.90% year-on-year.
