Dunhuang Museum opened in 2012, and due to its focus on showcasing the Silk Road and Mogao culture, it has become the best place to learn about Dunhuang history and Mogao art.

The appearance of Dunhuang Museum is very unique, with a shape resembling the walls and beacon towers of the Han Dynasty Great Wall. Entering the interior of a museum is like stepping into a group of grottoes. The walls and corridors inside the museum are in the form of ancient grotto corridors, which are very distinctive.

The museum has a total of six exhibition halls, but the main exhibition is the Dunhuang Museum's themed exhibition "The City of Huarong Intersection", which takes about 1-2 hours to visit.

The exhibition "The City of Huarong Intersection" runs through the entire museum building and is divided into 13 units according to the era. These units are mainly distributed by age, and visitors can experience the thousand year history of Dunhuang by visiting along the same passage as the grotto corridor from ancient times to the present.

The exhibits in the museum are mainly divided into two categories. One type is the exhibition mainly featuring the art of Mogao Grottoes, which includes a replica of the undeveloped No. 45 grotto in Mogao Grottoes, showcasing the style of the legendary grotto that reflects music. There are also some Dunhuang manuscripts, also known as the famous "Dunhuang manuscripts", which are very precious. Another type of exhibition is focused on the Silk Road culture, featuring elegant and beautiful Northern Liang stone pagodas, painted bricks, and even rare Qilin bricks in the country. It can be considered a treasure of this museum and should not be missed.
