Ge Garden, also known as Geyuan (个园 in Chinese),is one fo the famous gardens in Yangzhou. And now it is one of top attractions in Yangzhou City of Jiangsu Province.
History
Ge Garden was built by Huang Zhiyun, the "Two Huai Salt General" (a major taxpayer of the court) during the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty, on the site of the former Shouzhi Garden in the Ming Dynasty. At that time, green bamboo was planted throughout the garden, and it was named "Ge" Garden because the shape of the bamboo leaves resembled the character "Ge". The four rockeries in the garden are very distinctive. After a week of visiting the garden, it feels like experiencing spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

What to See
Ge Garden is not large and can be divided into three areas: the northern bamboo viewing area, the central garden, and the southern residential area. The entire park has three gates: north, east, and south. The north gate only allows entry and exit, the east gate only allows exit and entry, and the south gate allows entry and exit. The south gate is located on the famous Dongguan Street. The park is not large, whether you enter through the north or south gate, you can travel along the north-south direction.
Compared with other famous gardens, the essence of this garden lies in the rockery and stone stacking art with the theme of the four seasons, using different stones to stack and create the four scenery of "spring, summer, autumn, and winter". Each season's rockery has its own unique features. When you visit the garden, you can see a stone peak standing tall in the sparse bamboo forest, which is called the "spring scenery", symbolizing the scene of spring returning to the earth and the revival of mushrooms after rain; To the north of the spring scenery is the "summer scenery", where clear water flows through the rocks, creating a vibrant scene; On the east side of the spring scenery, you can see the "autumn scenery", surrounded by a stack of stones, several maple leaves, and a solemn autumn atmosphere; On the south side of the Spring Scenery, near the South Gate, is the "Winter Scenery", where the stacked stones are all snow white, like the harsh winter with heavy snowfall. The four scenic spots of stacked stones are located in the southern part of the park.
Besides stacking stones in all seasons, taking a walk in the bamboo forest in the central and northern parts of the garden is also a very pleasant thing. Even in the scorching summer, walking in the lush bamboo forest can feel quite cool.
Tourists can invite tour guides at the north and south gates of the park, and fees will be charged based on the number of visitors.
