Ancient Longzhong

The Longzhong Scenic Area, located about 15 kilometers outside Xiangyang, is a legendary retreat where Zhuge Liang worked and farmed during the Three Kingdoms period. It is also the site of stories such as "Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage" and "Longzhong Dui". Longzhong in Xiangyang and Nanyang in Henan have been competing for the title of "Zhuge Gonggeng Land". As ordinary tourists, you don't need to pay too much attention to this, after all, the two places have been competing for this title for hundreds of years, and all the buildings in Longzhong Scenic Area have also been artificially rebuilt in recent years.

From Xiangyang city center, it takes about 40 minutes to reach Longzhong Scenic Area. The scenic area is not large, and you can walk and browse the entire scenic area according to the map in the area. At the entrance of the scenic area, there stands a three door stone archway with the three large characters "Gu Long Zhong" carved in the center. Walking through the memorial archway, you can see a piece of farmland. It is said that this is the farmland Zhuge Liang used to "plough". At the foot of the mountain not far from the farmland, there is a thatched cottage, which is the place where Liu Bei invited Zhuge Liang to come out of the mountain when he visited the cottage three times.

In front of this thatched cottage is a small courtyard. When you enter the thatched cottage, what catches your eye is the wooden plaque of "Longzhong Dui" by Chen Shou (author of "Records of the Three Kingdoms") hanging on the front wall, and beside the side desk, the statues of Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei are lifelike. There is a Wuhou Temple near the thatched cottage, with a statue of Zhuge Liang sitting in the main hall. There are also many wax figures in the temple, depicting some of Zhuge Liang's life scenes at that time, such as reading, farming, and making friends. Next to the Wuhou Temple is the Three Visits Hall, which was built for the purpose of "Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage". Inside, there are also statues showcasing the scene of Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang discussing major world events.

There are also small attractions such as Gubai Pavilion and Longzhong Academy in the scenic area that can be visited together. You can also climb up to Tengwang Pavilion in the scenic area, where you can overlook the surroundings. The verdant hills surround Gulong, creating a pastoral scenery.
