The Porcelain House is a French style building decorated with countless private ancient porcelain, White Marble stone carvings, crystals, agates and antiques. The walls of the house are densely covered with exquisite ancient Chinese porcelain, and the courtyard and interior are filled with antiques. The overwhelming amount of porcelain antiques often dazzles visitors who are new to porcelain houses.
The wall of the porcelain house is made up of hundreds of ancient porcelain bottles from the Republic of China and the late Qing Dynasty, and is called the Ping An Wall. The roof is made of ancient porcelain pieces, and a giant dragon spirals out with the pattern of "China". Behind the dragon is the Bird's Nest, the main stadium of the 2008 Olympics, made of broken porcelain pieces. Pay attention to the right side of the house's exterior, where there is a vertical row of porcelain cats extending from the top floor to the corner of the first floor. The porcelain cats are surrounded by crystals and agates, and what sets the crowd apart is a drainage pipe, which is truly impressive.
The entire building has five floors, and the basement is not open to the public. The first to fourth floors are open for visitors to visit. On each floor of the building, there are many exquisitely carved ancient wooden furniture, and on the red walls, famous people's calligraphy and paintings from all over the world are pasted with porcelain tiles. There is a large porcelain jar from the Song Dynasty placed in the middle of the first floor. Both the second and third floors have balconies for viewing, so be sure to look up at the ceiling of the balcony. The ceiling is covered with whole ancient porcelain plates, and the plates in the middle become more valuable. Due to the hollow design in the middle of each floor, one can see the large porcelain jar in the middle of the first floor from the fourth floor.
Facing the porcelain house, there is a small room on the left side that is also covered with exquisite porcelain, which is the toilet. Just take a look, in order to have a unique and beautiful toilet among the piles of crystals, agates, and porcelain, there is often a long queue in front of the toilet door.
To the right of the porcelain house is the exit, don't go out directly. The small room where the exit is located has the "Treasure of the Town Hall". Some of the antique stone statues seen in the courtyard of the porcelain house do not have heads, and their heads are all in the ear room at the exit. The larger one is the "treasure of the town hall", and there is a large groove between the Buddha's eyebrows that was originally used to hold rubies. This room at the exit does not allow photography.
If just looking at this porcelain house is not enough, there is a Five Avenue Cultural Tourism Zone in Tianjin - Gedou Building (No. 283 Hebei Road), which has a similar charm to the porcelain house and is not far away. You can go and have a look.
