Gaomei Wetland

Gaomei Wetland is located in Taichung, with a small area and various habitats such as muddy and sandy beaches, tidal streams, and grassy marshes. The biodiversity here is diverse, and every winter, a large number of migratory birds migrate south to escape the cold and winter, making it one of the scenic spots of Gaomei Wetland.

When you arrive at Gaomei Wetland, what catches your eye are two rows of huge wind turbines, with huge blades rotating in the wind, which is very spectacular. The environment-friendly power generation mode meets the wetland landscape, and a new beauty is born unexpectedly - at sunset, these giants stand on the horizon and are reflected on the water surface of the mudflat to form silhouettes, integrating with the orange, pink and purple gradually changing sky. Such beauty can only be experienced when it comes to the beautiful wetland.

The shallow water on the mudflats, when stepping on this silt with rolled up shoes and pants, does not stick to the feet and has no odor. Occasionally, there may be mud and water splashing onto the soles of the feet, which can basically keep the feet clean. In addition to migratory birds, wetlands also have many fish, crabs and other organisms. In the "tidal stream area", the reproduction and hatching of migratory fish can be observed, while in the "slow flow area", fish fry can grow. In the "mudflats", mudskippers and hermit crabs coexist peacefully.

If you enjoy cycling, you can ride along the Gaomei cycling trail from the seawall all the way to the wetland. Although the lane is relatively simple, it is still flat and not difficult to ride. Don't rush to leave after sunset. After about 30 minutes, the coastal road next to the windmill will start to light up with street lights. Windmills once again become the main characters, with scattered yellow lights extending beneath their feet and reflecting on the water surface, creating an equally impressive scenery.                                                                                                                                                                                                Travel  Tips
