Dajia Jenn Lann Temple

The Zhenlan Palace was built during the Yongzheng period and was named after Mazu, the goddess who was able to pacify the sea and ensure peace. In 1934, a major earthquake struck nearby Qingshui and Houli, causing heavy casualties, but the Dajia area remained unharmed, and the people were even more grateful for the blessings of Mazu. In 1980, people witnessed the decay of the beams and columns of the temple. After discussion by the representative assembly of believers, it was decided to demolish the old temple and rebuild a new palace on the original site, which took 8 years to complete.

The architecture of Zhenlan Palace includes the front hall, back hall, north and south halls, north and south chambers, bell and drum towers, etc. The building is filled with stories of people, flowers, birds, trees, birds, animals, etc. Whether it is wood carving or stone carving, each one is colorful and exquisite. The main hall and shrine are surrounded by golden and magnificent decorations, layer by layer emitting a magnificent and dignified atmosphere. The inscriptions and plaques of several emperors of the Qing Dynasty, such as the ancient plaques "Protecting the Country and Protecting the People" and "Benefiting the Zhaoling" from the Qianlong period, the ancient plaque "Harmony with Heaven" bestowed by Emperor Guangxu, as well as the ancient plaques "Sincerely Seeking to Stand in Response", "Compassionate Light Illuminating", "Gonggong Gongyi", etc., are all ancient relics preserved since the Qing Dynasty.

The main deity of Zhenlan Palace worships Mazu, the goddess of heaven. At the same time, it also enshrines well-known and widely worshipped deities such as Holy Parents, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, North South Star Lord, Shennong Emperor, Wenchang Emperor, and the Twenty Eight Stars.

Every year, the date of offering incense in Dazu Mazu Village is not fixed. It was the Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) Festival that the chairman of the management committee decided the date and time of offering incense. During the entire 9-day and 8-night pilgrimage activity, there were ten main ceremonies including divination, flag raising, praying for safety, getting on the sedan chair, getting off the carriage, parking, praying for blessings, birthday wishes, returning to the carriage, and seating. Each ceremony was performed devoutly according to established procedures, locations, and times. Friends who are interested in folk culture and Mazu belief can go to the ceremony to fully experience the local cultural customs.                                                                                                                                                 Travel  Tips
