Wanshou Pagoda is a key cultural relic protection unit in Hubei Province. This tower was first built in the 27th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1548 AD). This tower is a pavilion style tower, over 40 meters high, and houses the handwritten "Diamond Sutra" by Empress Mao.
There are 94 niches of White Marble Buddha carved on the outer wall of the tower, which is solemn and vivid. There are also many White Marble Buddha statues carved on the inner wall, as well as 901 tiles and character bricks engraved with Chinese, Manchu and Tibetan respectively, which are dedicated to various places.
The Wanshou Pagoda is built on the embankment of the Jingjiang River, with the meaning of guarding the river flow, subduing demons, and ensuring peace in the area. For hundreds of years, the Wanshou Pagoda has been both a historical witness of the floods on both sides of the Jingjiang River and a carrier of people's beautiful wishes to subdue the river flow.
