This temple was built in 1295 by Basiba, the preceptor of Kublai Khan, the founder of the Sakya sect, more than 400 years before the Xiahe Labrang Temple. It is an ancient Buddhist temple in the Anduo region. Before the establishment of Labrang Temple, Chanding Temple had always held an important position in religion, culture, and other aspects of the Gannan Tibetan region. In terms of its historical influence and status, it was second only to Labrang Temple.
Chanding Temple is located on a terrace on the north bank of the Tao River in Zhuoni County, with its back facing the Amiri Gong Mountain (locally known as the Mountain God) and overlooking the Tao River. Across the river, it faces the Guoyachuan Monastery in the south of the county. The temple architecture is in the style of Tibetan Han mixed wall, with the entire complex arranged in rows and shining brilliantly. There are many treasures hidden in the temple, especially the diverse styles of sculptures, some of which are handmade by Buddhist monks. In terms of texture, there are pure silver, gilded, copper, wood carving, jade carving, clay sculpture, etc.
