Gansu Provincial Museum

Gansu Provincial Museum is located in Qilihe District, Lanzhou City. The museum houses numerous precious cultural relics and treasures, ranking among the top museums in the country in terms of excitement and richness. It is one of the iconic buildings for visiting the urban area of Lanzhou.

Due to its location on the Silk Road and the border between the Han and Tibetan regions, Gansu has a large number of unearthed cultural relics that reflect the cultures of the Western Regions, Central Plains, and Tibetan areas. This makes the museum's cultural relics rich, colorful, and unique, making them very worth visiting. The bronze statue of a horse stepping on a flying swallow and the painted bricks of a courier in the museum are also famous and precious national treasures. You must not miss them when visiting here.

The museum has three floors and is divided into three permanent exhibition halls: Silk Road Civilization Exhibition, Gansu Buddhist Art Exhibition, Gansu Colored Pottery Exhibition, Paleontology Exhibition, and Red Gansu. Among them, the three themes of Silk Road, Buddhism, and Colored Pottery are more exciting and can be visited according to interests. There is also a temporary exhibition hall on the first floor, which often holds temporary exhibitions of cultural relics and artworks. There are many exhibits in the museum, and it usually takes almost half a day to take a quick tour.

There is a coffee shop on the second floor of the museum, with prices the same as regular coffee shops outside. If you get tired from walking, you can go in and have a cup of coffee to rest.
